In 1977, a plane crash took the lives of three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Two years later, Gary Rossington and Allen Collins founded the Rossington Collins Band with two other former members of Lynyrd Skynyrd: Billy Powel and Leon Wilkerson. Looking to create a unique sound and distance the group from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rossington Collins Band, the band hired by Dale Krantz as a female vocalist and group leader. After releasing two albums, the band broke up in 1982 following the death of Allen's wife. Dale and Gary also married in 1982 and went on to form The Rossington Band together.
