In 1975, a Lebanese restaurant and an adjoining building were combined to create The Middle East - Upstairs. Between 1975 and 1987, the concert venue mostly showcased blues, jazz, and multi-ethnic musical performances, but in 1987, the first rock concert was performed there. Adjoining and nearby properties were purchased the following year to create "The Middle East - Corner and Bakery" and "The Middle East - Downstairs" Two more venues were added in the early 2000s. Today, The Middle East - Upstairs is now part of The Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub, a multi-venue dining, live music, and entertainment complex
