San Siro Stadium has been officially named "Stadio Giuseppe Meazza" since March 2, 1980, to honor the beloved Italian football player who had died the previous year. However, the venue is often referred to as "San Siro Stadium" or simply "San Siro," including on the venue's official website, because San Siro is the name of the district in which the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza is located.
