The Pulses formed in Upstate New York in 1995 but didn't begin recording until some of their original members moved to Seattle and reformed the band with a new lineup in 1999. This lineup included original members Jesse Steinchen (vocals, guitar) and David Ramm (drums), but added new member Shannon McConnell (vocals, bass) who had been a member of a number of Seattle bands, most notably The Fall-Outs. They began playing local shows and self-released a limited edition 30 song demo CD in 2000.
