Boston-based Heretix made their name by winning the WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble in 1988 (beating, among others, The Lemonheads). They signed to Island, released an EP (A.D.) and an album (Gods & Gangsters). They took on a harder sound for two self-financed releases, 1991's Continuous Soft Hits on the Head, and 1993's The Adventures of Superdevil but were unable to break out of the local market, and subsequently disbanded.
