I was 16 and this was my first big concert. Everyone was smoking and my shirt smelled of wacky tobacky for 3 days.

I was at this concert but it was on the 13th, not the 12th and Rainbow did not play. Blue Oyster Cult played an extended set because Blackmore was a no show.

I was at this concert and shot many photos. Sammy Hagar absolutely ROCKED! A few years after this concert there was a short interview with Sammy on MTV and he was asked what was the worst concert he ever played. His response was this concert in Des Moines. He went on to say that it was a really poor turn out because the venue was only about a third full but he said it was the most kick ass concert he'd ever played! When he came back a year later this concert was sold out.
