They formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1981 when Jason Ringenberg, raised on a hog farm in northern Illinois and fresh out of college, came careening into Nashville looking for a "rock n' roll wild band" and found the Scorchers, three Nashville upstarts who had punk-rock leanings, stand-up comedian attitudes, great musical chops, and more than their share of vices.
