In the latter half of the 2010s, Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer JayWood began releasing a strain of low-key bedroom pop that incorporated elements of jangling indie rock, R&B, psych, and funk. From his home base in Winnipeg, he self-released the 2019 LP, Time, then joined the Captured Tracks roster, making his label debut with the acclaimed 2021 EP Some Days. The project continued to evolve on his more stylistically diverse sophomore album, Slingshot, which appeared in 2022.
