Originally from Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand, Lorde (born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, November 7, 1996) is a 28 year old singer-songwriter who rose to prominence in 2013 with the release of her debut studio album "Pure Heroine." It peaked at number one on the Australian and New Zeland charts and featured the intenrational hit singles "Royals," "Tennis Court," and "Team." The following year she curated the soundtrack to "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1," for whcih she contributed the song "Yellow Flicker Beat." That year, she was also parodied in two episodes of the animated comedy series "South Park." Lorde's second album "Melodrama" was released in 2017 and was the first to top the US Billboard 200 chart. It was followed by "Solar Power" in 2021, her third consecutive number-one album in New Zealand and Australia.
