Nama “Soegi” diambil dari bahasa Jawa “sugih” yang secara harfiah berarti kaya. Melalui nama itu, harapan akan kaya dalam banyak hal seperti kaya akan karya, hati, dan lain sebagainya disematkan. Selain itu, Soegi juga punya makna lain, yakni nama belakang dari sang vokalis yang berdarah Kalimantan, Fanny Soegiarto.
