“Vortis” derives its name from “Vorticism”, a short-lived but influential British avant-guerre movement featuring rebel poets, novelists, dramatists, painters, photographers and sculptors who considered themselves “Primitive Mercenaries in the Modern World”. Its eccentric circle included such Modernist luminaries as Ezra Pound, Wyndham Lewis, Ford Madox Ford, T.S. Eliot and Henri Gaudier-Brzeska. Each contributor expressed his/her Vortex.
