Tipe-X dibentuk pada bulan September 1995 (dengan nama Head Master). Saat ini Tipe-X terdiri dari 7 personel yaitu Tresno Riadi (vokal), Micky (bass), Yoss (gitar), Aditya Pratama (drum), Billy (gitar), Anto (trombone), dan Andi Toha (saksofon).
