Growing up in Quagga, South Africa, Théan Slabbert was surrounded by a variety of soundscapes. He was influenced by the Xhosa harmonies on the farms, in the villages and at his father’s churches. For three years, Théan sang with the Eastern Cape Children’s Choir, after which he moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in 2004. Théan has been exploring a variety of musical styles, performing frequently as part of Kalle Mattson, studying guitar with Frank Deresti and writing wordless, Afrikaans, and English songs.
