The Unity comenzó en 2016 como un proyecto paralelo de los miembros de Gamma Ray , Henjo Richter (guitarra) y Michael Ehré (batería), quienes se vieron en la misma onda musical. Con el cantante Gianbatista Manenti, el guitarrista Stefan Stef Ellerhorst (ex- Crossroads ), el bajista Jogi Sweers y el teclista Sascha Onnen (ex- Mob Rules ), los dos incorporaron a la banda a miembros de la ahora disuelta banda de metal Love.Might.Kill . Love.Might.Kill fue fundada por Ehré en 2010.
