In the early 1980s, former members of The Mamas & the Papas began performing again as "The New Mamas & the Papas." The band continued performing on and off with a consistently changing lineup of members for several decades but were never able to attain the success of the original The Mamas & the Papas, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hal of Fame in 1998.
