Rachel Carns (formerly of The Need) collaborated with future bandmate Kwo (later known as Ghost) to write an original score for the punk performance art cabaret Dr. Frockrocket's Vivifying (Re-Animatronic) Menagerie And Medicine Show. She then returned to the drums and headset mic, and she and Ghost continued to write and perform under the name The King Cobra. Their epic, structurally severe punk-prog compositions defied classification; descriptions range from "conquer rock" to sludge to art rock to stoner-math-post-metal.
