The Hurt has a post-punk, new-new wave, rock guitar-driven sound. Similarities include, but are not limited to Echo and The Bunnymen, early Police, The Smiths, and The Stone Roses. Although similar to these bands, The Hurt has a distinctive sound that sets them apart from typical indie music. The sincerity of their style, along with their unwavering dedication to the pop element of music, places them in a category held by many successful indie bands today, such as Interpol, The Stills and Franz Ferdinand.
