Tammy Wynette's 1988 Concert Photos

When Tammy Wynette (May 5, 1942 – April 6, 1998) began performing professionally in the mid-1960s, country music was heavily dominated by male artists, but Wynette's success inspired generations of women to enter the industry. As a result, Wynette earned the nickname "The First Lady of Country Music" early in her career. As a solo artist, she released 33 studio albums and dozens of singles, including "Stand By Your Man," which Country Music Television (CMT) ranked as the greatest Country Music Song in 2003. Additionally, Wynette collaborated extensively with other musicians, including George Jones, whom she married in 1969. Together they had one child, Georgette Jones. The two divorced in 1975 but the two continued performing together as a duet on and off for the next two decades. "One," the duet's ninth studio was released in 1995, nearly three years before Wynette passed from a blood clot in her lung.
