Smallwire has been praised for its cascading vocal harmonies and its detail-rich pop arrangements. Violins are stratus clouds, a farfisa squeegees; twin clean-toned guitars drizzle; Effecting nods to such artists as Stereolab, Brian Eno and Broken Social Scene, Smallwire moves effortlessly from minimal and intimate to lush and shimmering. Formed in 2005, the five-piece just completed their debut album, Songs for Sleeping In. Japanese label Moorworks will be releasing the album in April of 2008.
