Simon & Garfunkel was a folk-rock duo formed by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel in the New York borough of Queens in the early 1950s. They were signed to Big Records in 1956 as "Tom & Jerry" but broke up in 1958 to pursue solo careers. After regrouping in 1963, they took on the name "Simon & Garfunkel," releasing five albums before their second breakup in 1970. During this period, they released a their most famous hits, including "The Sound of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson," and "Bridge over Trouble Water." Since 1970, the band has reunited several times but never for more than a few years. Simon & Garfunkel's final concert took place at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest on April 24, 2010.
