Shadow '86 is essentially a side-project of Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready's. Brothers Chris and Rick Friel round out the trio. Shadow is a showcase for McCready's virtuoso guitar skills (in 2006 Rolling Stone's David Fricke admitted that leaving McCready, as well as PJ co-guitarist Stone Gossard, off the RS 100 greatest guitar players had been a grievous error), playing straight-ahead rock and blistering covers.
