Kovacs, gebürtige Burgenländerin, besuchte unter anderem das Musikgymnasium Wien. Gitarre spielen lernte sie über zehn Jahre an verschiedenen Musikschulen. Zwei Jahre studierte sie Jazzgesang, brach das Studium aber ab; einerseits, weil diese Form des Singens nicht ihren Vorstellungen entsprach, anderseits um sich ganz dem Songwriting zu widmen. Ein Angelpunkt in ihrer musikalischen Entwicklung war das Umfeld der JazzWerkstatt Wien, eines Musikerkollektivs, das seit 2004 Projekte und Veranstaltungen organisiert.
