Sandy Bailey grew up singing gospel music to congregations of hundreds in church and listening to bluegrass on the radio, but it wasn’t until early adulthood that she began to identify her own compositional style and melding of those influences. Bailey’s debut album, "Raven’s Flesh", was recorded at the Pushkin Gallery, an historic bank converted into an art gallery in Greenfield, Massachusetts, produced by jazz pianist Jeff D’Antona and engineered by Justin Pizzoferrato (Sonic Youth, Apollo Sunshine).
