Old Apparatus was an enigmatic East London duo consisting of LTO and Asher Levitas. Between 2011 and 2013 they released 8 EPs of abstract sound with deep, fuzzed-out bass lines, crackling static ambience and ominous Burial-like rimshots. Their first two were on Mala’s Deep Medi Musik label, home of serious bass-heavy sound system music, after which they formed their own label called Sullen Tone.
