Nu Klezmer Army's 2013 Concert History

"The Nu Klezmer Army was formed as a resistance cell in 1897 deep within the bowels of the Siberian prison camp Akatuy katorga. After years of careful planning, the opportunity to escape presented itself. Of the 137 members, only 9 escaped. They fled to the safety of Turkish bath houses in Bursa. 7 of 9 were musicians, and they made a meager living transcribing sheet music by memory. The other two were struck by lightning. One dark night somewhere just outside of Bozrah, a burning bush told them to form a Klezmer band.
