Called "The Queen of Blue", Nora Ney (Iracema de Souza Ferreira - Mar 20, 1922 Rio de Janeiro - Oct 28, 2003 Rio de Janeiro) debuted on the radio in 1951. Her unmistakable contralto voice helped forge a peculiar style. She would be the first person to record the hallmark rock song "Rock Around the Clock" (Bill Halley) in Brazil, in 1956.
