The Nirvana Ensemble Concert History
Led by vocalists Patrick Campbell-Lyons and Alex Spyropoulos in 1965, Nirvana emerged in England as an innovative music entity merging classical and modern elements to create a unique sound that, while unable to reach a mass audience, was critically acclaimed. Finding themselves unable to perform live as a duo, Campbell-Lyons and Spyropoulos formed The Nirvana Ensemble to tour and make television appearances. The original British Nirvana disbanded in 1971 but reformed in 198. In 1987, members of the original Nirvana sued the American grunge band also called Nirvana (formed in 1987) over usage of the name. The case was settled out of court with both bands permitted to use the name, and Kurt Cobain alleging paying $100,000 to the original Nirvana.
