After the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Gerald Way, a New Jersey native, was inspired to start a band with the hope of "making a difference" in the world. Not long thereafter, My Chemical Romance was born with its debut studio album "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" dropping in the summer of 2002. Before disbanding in 2013, the band released three more studio albums: "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" (2004), "The Black Parade," which featured the hit single "Welcome to the Black Parade," and "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys" (2010). On December 20, 2019, My Chemical Romance reunited at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles with supporting act Thursday. A reunion tour was scheduled to follow throughout 2020 but was delayed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Just curious if there is a reason the December 15th concert at the UNSW Roundhouse isn't included?
My Chemical Romance has been described as punk, rock, pop punk, post-hardcore, art rock, and more. The band has also been described as emo, emo punk, and emo pop, but Gerard Way, lead singer of the band, has categorically denied the label of “emo,” saying in a 2007 interview with the Maine Campus:
Basically, it’s never been accurate to describe us. Emo bands were being booked while we were touring with Christian metal bands because no one would book us on tours. I think emo is F–ing garbage, it’s bulls–. I think there’s bands that unfortunately we get lumped in with that are considered emo and by default that starts to make us emo. All I can say is anyone actually listening to the records, put the records next to each other and listen to them and there’s actually no similarities. I think emo’s a pile of s–.
In the immediate wake of the 2001 September 11 attacks, singer Gerard Way started the band My Chemical Romance with the goal of "making a difference." The song “Skylines and Turnstyles” was written about the 9/11 attacks and is featured on the band’s first studio album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, released on July 23, 2002.
My Chemical Romance was formed by Gerard Way in Newark, New Jersey.
My Chemical Romance gets its name from Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance, a book by Irvine Welsh. Mikey Way, the band’s bassist, suggested the name after seeing the book while working at a bookstore.
The original members of My Chemical Romance included:
Pelsier left in 2004 and was replaced by Bob Bryar who remained the band’s drummer and percussionist until 2010 when he was replaced by Jarrod Alexander who remained with the band until it broke up in 2013. When the band reunited, Gerard and Mikey Way, Ray Toro, and Frank Iero returned with Jarrod Alexander as a touring member.
When the band embarked on The Black Parade World Tour in February 2007, Bob Bryar started experiencing wrist issues that caused him to be unable to perform with the band. Due to his injuries, he would officially depart from My Chemical Romance on March 3, 2010.
The Black Parade was released on October 20, 2006. It was the third studio album released by My Chemical Romance.
The My Chemical Romance fanbase is referred to as "Killjoys." The band's fourth studio album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is said to be the inspiration for the name.
On March 22, 2013, My Chemical Romance confirmed that it had broken up. Despite the band’s dissolution, My Chemical Romance released two albums before reuniting in 2017:
My Chemical Romance officially announced its reunion on December 20, 2019. However, it was later revealed the band had actually reunited in 2017, more than 2 years prior to the official announcement.
My Chemical Romance has had 1,053 concerts.
My Chemical Romance is most often considered to be Rock, Punk, Alternative Rock, Hard Rock, Alternative, Punk Rock, Pop Punk, Emo, Post-Hardcore, Modern Rock, Pov: Indie, Rock Opera, and Emo Pop.
