MËKANÏK was formed by Candy Whorehole und Voldswagen aus LYDIA LASKA back in 1999. Voldswagen had been writing material and playing the drums for DISMAL EUPHONY since 1991, and was hungry for a more oldschool approach. Candy had a couple of black progrock tunes in his pockets that the two rehearsed and experimented on for a couple of weeks in a dirty basement. They entered West Audio in Stavanger, june 2000, and just started calling people they knew to ask them join in.
