At a young age, she knew music was her calling. Begging her mom for piano lessons, she started in kindergarten, and began exploring her voice as she would sing along with her piano lesson songs. Soon her father introduced to her several soul and blues greats Etta James, Ray Charles, James Brown, and BB King. From then on, she was hooked. She soaked up any soulful record she could get her hands on trying to emulate the vocal stylings, phrasing and feeling.
