Kumiko Kato may be the first of a generation of Japanese performers who search for success in the U.S. as much as in Japan. She wants to follow in the footsteps of the most popular female J-pop performers, and she was the busiest of musical guests at U.S. anime conventions in the months before this page was revealed. From the winter of 2004 to the spring of 2005, Kato sang and danced at at least a half-dozen conventions around the U.S. She made her American debut at Ushicon in 2004 and kept going at several conventions after that.
