Kinky Friedman was American singer-songwriter (and novelist, humorist, politician, and magazine columnist) Richard Samet Friedman (born in Chicago on 31 October 1944; died 26 June 2024) remembered for how he styled himself in the mold of popular American satirists Will Rogers and Mark Twain. His nickname "Kinky" was because of his curly hair. He also performed and recorded as Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys.
