While he cites Eric Clapton as his primary influence (particularly the Derek & the Dominos period) his style is also strongly informed by influences such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and other blues and soul artists including Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, BB King, Albert King, Freddie King, James Brown, The Meters, Aretha Franklin, The Allman Brothers Band, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, The Band, Al Green, and Marvin Gaye.
