Justin Smith, also known as J Smitty, started his music career at a young age. Born in Lexington, South Carolina, he had a variety of different musical influences. Always listening to his grandfather playing the guitar and singing a lot of old folk songs he began to love music. Smith's grandfather bought him his first guitar at the age of 14 so that he would be able to play at his 8th grade talent show.. He taught himself how to play and practiced on a regular basis.
