Johnny With An Eye from Grand Rapids, Michigan was a precursor to The Verve Pipe active from 1990-1992 and featuring future members of The Verve Pipe, brothers Brian Vander Ark and Brad Vander Ark. The band released one EP entitled Mit Kase (German for "with cheese"), which featured early incarnations of The Verve Pipe songs Ark of the Envious, Martyr Material (then called Your Newest Phase) and The Freshmen. All three tracks eventually were rerecorded for The Verve Pipe's album I've Suffered A Head Injury...
