Jimmy Gonzalez y Grupo Mazz are one of the most popular and well-known modern tejano acts. Based in the Brownsville Texas area, the group was formed in 1977 by long-time friends Jimmy Gonzalez and Joe Lopez. Mazz developed a reputation as renegade artists, at least until the founding friends parted ways in the late 1990s.
