Jan Rot (born 25 December 1957 in Makassar, Indonesia; died 22 April 2022 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands) was a Dutch singer, songwriter and lyricist who started his musical career in 1978 as a member of Streetbeats and Ratata. In 1982 he launched his solo career, initially writing songs in English, but (from 1990 onwards) in his mothertongue, starting with the album Hoop & Liefde.
