Instant Prehistoric formed in the fall of 2006 when Mike Fuksman(guitar/vocals), Stacy Folker(bass), and Brad Badas(guitar/vocals) had all recently left their former projects to pursue their love of post punk and indie rock. The band would add friend and local musician Campbell Lempe(Drums) to form it's original lineup. This lineup would go on to write songs primarily in the post-punk and dance punk styles, with strong influences being the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and indie stalwarts The Pixies.
