If I Were A Boy is the solo project of Brianna Mahoney, an Australian folk-rock singer-songwriter from Adelaide, South Australia. Mahoney began performing under the moniker in 2011, named after the Beyoncé song of the same name. She also contributed bass and vocals to Adelaide band The Hard Aches from 2012 to 2014. After several years of performing, a debut EP was released in June 2014; entitled The Birds and the Bris.
