Hotels & Highways formed in 2010 and is composed of singer-songwriters Syd, Lisa Piccirillo and Patrick Thomas, who wrote songs together while touring in support of their solo albums. In September, 2010 they spent ten days at a lakeside cabin in upstate New York which resulted in their album Lost River, released in the Spring of 2011. The first single from Lost River is Train Whistle.
