Gentlemen Afterdark (sometimes credited as Gentlemen After Dark) were a popular Arizona-based postpunk/new wave/New Romantic band featuring charismatic lead vocalist Brian Smith, Barry Smith, Robin Johnson, Fred Cross and Winston Watson. Originally a tight, melodic Tucson-based pop-punk band called the Pills, the Gentlemen changed their name and relocated to Phoenix where they immediately gained huge popularity on the burgeoning Phoenix/Tempe scene.
