Flav Giorgini has been playing in punk bands since 1984, when he, along with brother Mass (Screeching Weasel, Common Rider), formed Rattail Grenadier in Lafayette, IN (USA). Dan Lumley (Screeching Weasel, Common Rider, The Mopes, The Riverdales) joined them on drums in 1985, and they self-produced their first release in 1986. Rattail Grenadier played many shows throughout the Midwest, South, and East Coast of the US during their tenure on the punk scene.
