Eminem (born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, in St. Joseph, Missouri, October 17, 1972), is a 52 year-old rapper, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He rose to fame within the local Detroit rap scene, collaborating with fellow Detroit rappers like Proof and Bizarre. All three were members of the rap group D12. Eminem released his debut studio album "Infinite" in 1996. Two years later, he was signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment. In 1999, he dropped "The Slim Shady LP" and founded Shady Records, signing 50 Cent in 2002, Yelawolf in 2011, and Ez Mil in 2023. His third album, "The Marshall Mathers LP" (2000) was the first of nine to consecutively top the Billboard 200 chart. In 2002, he starred in the film 8 Mile. His single "Lose Yourself" from the Soundtrack was his first to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

Eminem doesn’t tour often, and Some speculate it may be due to stiff competition in the concert scene or due to him simply not needing a tour to make a profit. However, it’s more than likely due to him wanting to focus on family.
He previously stated his daughter Hailie didn’t like him being away from home and he similarly didn’t like being away from his kids. In 2019, he also turned down a joint tour with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, saying that he didn’t “want to go on tour and come back and Hailie's grown.”

After his father left, he and his mother struggled to make ends meet. They moved frequently between Detroit, Kansas City, and elsewhere throughout Missouri, typically living with family members and rarely staying in one place for over a year until they finally settled down on the eastside of Detroit when Eminem was 12.
