Born and raised in the historic colonial port town of Chaptico, on the western shore of St. Mary's County, Maryland, Dave's tunes have been recorded by such quality artists as: Blue Highway, The Seldom Scene, IIIrd Tyme Out, Larry Sparks, Valarie Smith & Liberty Pike, Jim Hurst, and Gary Ferguson and Sally Love. Bluegrass Unlimited has described him as "one of the most refreshing new writers in bluegrass music".
