David Michael Miller grew up in Allegany County, south of Buffalo, New York. He started singing at a young age in his church, where he was surrounded by gospel music, which still impacts his music to this day. During the 70's and 80's he was exposed to all kinds of music and learned to play saxophone, piano and eventually guitar. David says he was always inspired by the blues and R&B, although he had never fully embraced them until later in life. David had been composing music for his church at the age of 12.
