Jason Trzaska and Peter Hill have been playing in Philadelphia area bands for over a decade each, that's how they first met, but they didn't start playing in a band together until April 2009. Jay had played in a band called US Funk Team and Pete played in one called Except After Sea. Both bands experienced minor success, had multiple releases, and toured nationally. By early 2009, US Funk Team had broken up and Except After Sea was headed into a long hiatus due to half the band moving across the country.
