Asylum XIII was formed in late 2008 by former Heaven Falls Hard and Mpiredwn member Daemon. Originally a "vanity project" never intended to see the light of day, he set to writing music. Interweaving goth and punk he created a sound very reminiscent of the deathrock bands of the 80's. Within a year or so, one Asylum song, "Narcissus" began getting airplay in New York while another, "Excommunication" appeared in a live form on the Shinto Records "Lunar Sea" compilation.
