Arthi Meera's vocal-centric, stripped-down sound is likely the result of a background in North Indian classical voice and a steady diet of Britpop and shoegaze since adolescence. After years of piano lessons and an unimpressive stint with the flute, she found a good friend in the acoustic guitar. Arthi performed regularly as a student in Claremont, California, playing solo shows and opening for touring bands on campus, including the Autumns and We Are Scientists.
