In early 2005, A Hero From A Thousand Paces hit the local South Jersey/Philly scene after self-recording their first EP. Instantly, attracting fans and creating a local buzz, especially with Mark Fray being the singer of now-defunct jersey band Riding Bikes. The band showcased a softer sounding pop/rock style. Mellow guitars, soothing bass, simple drums, creatively placed keyboards and being very vocally driven, Hero made a name for themselves by the summer of '05 by gaining a spot on Philadelphia's "Hellfest" summer tour.
