Formaţia 'Compact' a luat fiinţă în 1977, în Cluj-Napoca, avînd ca membri pe: Marius 'Bubu' Luca - chitară, voce; Cornel Moldovan - chitară, voce; Ladislau Balazs - tobe; Constantin Cămărăşan - chitară; Teo Peter - bas. Debutează pe scena Clubului Universităţii. În decembrie 1977, participă la Galele 'Săptămîna' din Bucureşti, unde lansează piesa 'Spaţii', semnată de Cornel Moldovan.
